About us
We are Karin and Manuel, travelling together with our two Chihuahuas, Mia and Jack.
Our motorhome is called Hopsie, and to us it is more than a vehicle: it is our small home on wheels. The name was born during the drive home after picking it up. Hopsie has air-suspended seats, and every bump made the seat bounce up and down. At some point Karin spontaneously said: “Our motorhome is called Hopsie.” And the name stayed.
The idea of travelling by motorhome came up at the end of 2024. We wanted to travel more again, but without being tied to one place and fixed dates by hotels or holiday apartments. More freedom, more quiet, and more flexibility were the goal.
After plenty of research, we knew we did not want a ready-made motorhome. Prices had risen a lot, we wanted more space, and we had clear ideas: a separate bathroom area, lengthwise sleeping, a generous seating area, and as much self-sufficiency as possible. Manuel is retired and enjoys hands-on work, so building it ourselves felt like the right path.
We are more tiny-house-on-wheels people than typical campers. Cozy, practical, not perfect, but right for us. We like quiet, remote places, slow travel, and usually keep our daily distance below 300 kilometers.
