Rømø
How could it be any different? To finish our journey, we are heading back to Rømø – and, of course, to Oasen. By now, we have probably written everything there is to say about this place, and once again there is really nothing to add or change. It is simply fantastic here, every single time. After all the new impressions, different campsites and motorhome stops we have experienced on this trip, coming back here almost feels a little like coming home. We know what to expect, we know the place, and from the moment we arrive, we feel comfortable. And since we are on Rømø, there is one thing that simply cannot be missed: a visit to Lakolk Beach. Driving Hopsie directly onto that enormous sandy beach, finding a nice spot and simply enjoying the endless space, the sea and the wind has become part of every visit to Rømø for us. No matter how many times we come here, this beach always feels special. Afterwards, it is back to Oasen, where we can relax and enjoy the final days of our journey before eventually heading home. My personal conclusion: Sitting here on Rømø and looking back over the past days, one feeling stands out above everything else: this has simply been a really wonderful journey. We have seen so much, discovered new places, met some lovely people and once again found a few spots we would happily return to. Of course, there were also places we didn't particularly like – but that is part of travelling too. For me, it is exactly this mixture that makes a journey interesting. What I enjoyed most about this trip was the freedom. We had a general direction and a destination, but no fixed schedule telling us exactly where we had to be and when. If we liked a place, we stayed. If we didn't, we simply moved on. And if we came up with a different idea along the way, we changed the plan. That is exactly what we built Hopsie for. And I have to admit, it makes me a little proud. An incredible amount of our own work has gone into this motorhome – countless hours of planning, building, wiring, programming and probably more than a few ideas that made other people shake their heads. 😂 Then you finally get out on the road and realise that it all works, that Hopsie reliably takes us from one place to the next and that we have pretty much everything with us that we need. Those are the moments when I remember exactly why I put so much time and effort into building it. For me, Hopsie has become much more than just a motorhome. It is our little home on wheels and, above all, our freedom to simply set off and see where we end up that evening. And now we are back here on Rømø. Of course, we took Hopsie onto Lakolk Beach one more time, and now we are spending the final days of our journey at Oasen. Somehow, this feels like exactly the right place to end this trip. It is a little sad to be heading home again. But one thing is certain: Hopsie won't be standing still for long. 😉
